Message from the Executive Director

Shekinah means  the visible manifestation of the divine presence. Other terms referring to the Shekinah are “The Glory and Radiance”, this is what I experienced in February 1990 when struggling with addiction and experienced a manifestation of a divine presence in my life. Shekinah Communities has touched and enhanced the quality of many lives in the community. Our humanitarian duty from a local as well as a global prospective is to care for our neighbor.

The greatest importance even more than the actual physical facilities is for the care and concern of those that are still struggling with addiction.

Drug addiction and alcoholism has found its way to the remote borders of our lives. The human existence will continue to be affected by it. Realistically, there is an overbearing plague that has taken strongholds on our society. The Shekinah Community offers a hands on approach to a needed defense against the war on substance abuse.

We as a community must invest in a solution, as the problems are nowhere near expiration. As we in the communities grow and recognize the effects of chemical dependency; there will be a need to understand and see first-hand a sincere and compassionate attempt to rehabilitate through community efforts and support that will allow a person to be responsible citizens of society.

Because of these reasons Shekinah Communities, Inc. will continue to provide services to individuals in need for the overall benefit of our community and society, treatment programs must continue to provide a stable, nurturing and structured environment that will be the beacon of hope for a healthier community.
